Privacy Policy
Last updated August 2026
The short version: We don't track, sell, or read your
browsing activity. The only things stored are the settings and stats
you create inside the app (your block list, your streaks, your
pledge history) and they're stored so they can follow you between
your own devices, not for any other purpose. Payment details are
handled entirely by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
What we don't do
- We don't read, log, or transmit the pages you visit. Blocking decisions are made entirely on your own device.
- We don't sell or share your data with advertisers or any third party for marketing purposes.
- We don't use tracking pixels, ad networks, or third-party analytics.
- We never see or store your full card number. Stripe handles that directly, and we only keep a reference to let you charge the same saved card automatically.
What is stored, and why
If you create an account, the following is stored under your account, encrypted in transit, so it can sync between your own devices:
- Your settings: block list entries, categories, Shields, schedules, usage limits, theme choice, and — only if you turn Prayer Mode on — the location you enter, used to calculate prayer times.
- Your activity stats: counts of blocked attempts and which rule caused them (a domain, keyword, or category, never the full URL or page content), your Activity tab's per-site time totals, and streaks.
- Your pledge history: the small penalty amounts tracked toward your weekly charity donation, and whether each week's donation went through.
- Basic account info: your email and, if you choose Google sign-in, your name as provided by Google.
- Authentication credentials: if you sign up with a password, it's never stored in plain text — Supabase Auth stores only a securely hashed version, the same way any password-based sign-in should. If you sign in with Google instead, we never see or store your Google password.
If you never create an account, everything stays entirely on your own device and nothing is sent anywhere.
Accountability partner
If you choose to invite an accountability partner, the stats shown on
their page depend on the privacy level you pick — never your full
browsing history, and at the most detailed level, only the names of
the sites or keywords that triggered your blocks most often that week.
Encouragement messages your partner sends you, and vice versa, are
stored so they can be delivered to you inside the app.
One exception: if you turn on Partner Approval Mode, a short
description of any change you ask your partner to approve (which may
name a specific site, keyword, or category) is always shown to them,
regardless of your chosen privacy level, since they need to know what
they're being asked to approve.
If your partner chooses to receive email updates, we also collect
their email address for that purpose — this is the one place another
person's contact info is stored, separate from your own account.
Third parties we rely on
- Supabase: hosts your account and settings.
- Stripe: handles payment card storage and charging directly; we never touch your raw card details.
- Pledge.to: routes your weekly donation to the charity you choose, and emails you a tax receipt directly. Since we don't collect your name, the receipt uses a name derived from your email address.
- Resend: sends account and accountability-partner emails on our behalf.
Each only receives what it needs to do its job: a payment processor gets payment info, an email service gets an email address and message content, and so on.
Limited Use
Sadaqah Shield's use and transfer of information received from Google
APIs to any other app adheres to the
Chrome Web Store User Data Policy,
including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically, and for all data the extension handles:
- We only collect and use data where it is needed to provide or improve a feature you can see in the product.
- We do not transfer this data to third parties except as needed to provide or improve those features, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger or acquisition — and never for advertising, credit assessment, or lending purposes.
- We do not sell this data, ever.
- We do not allow humans to read this data, except with your explicit consent for a specific issue you have raised with us, where it is necessary for security purposes or to comply with applicable law, or where the data has been aggregated and made anonymous.
Your data, your control
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Doing so
permanently removes your data from our systems: settings, stats,
pledge history, and account info alike.
